On Monday, November 28, a woodwind quarter from the Granite State Symphony Orchestra visited Penacook Community Center. This visit was funded by a grant to the orchestra from Lincoln Financial Foundation. Accompanied by their conductor, Maestro Robert Babb, the musicians educated the children by demonstrating a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, and a bassoon. |
| The performance began with performances of traditional classical pieces from Haydn and Brahms. The musicians then spoke about the different ranges their instruments can play, and demonstrated the Happy Birthday song in various tones, from upbeat to melancholy to ragtime! The performance ended with traditional holiday songs, putting everyone in the holiday spirit as the children sang along. We feel so fortunate to have experienced the Granite State Symphony Orchestra Quartet… WHAT A TREAT! |
